| Agriculture is the science and practice of land cultivation for rearing animals and growing crops. The primary purpose of agriculture is for the production of Food and drink, but materials for Fashion and the Home are obtained from animals (fur, leather and wool), plants (cotton, sisal and flax), birds (feathers) and even insects (silk). Forestry, the planned planting of trees for timber, can be considered to be a form of farming, as can the keeping of bees and the growing of flowers. The breeding and catching of fish and the rearing of game birds for Sport can also be thought of as agriculture in the wider sense. | ||||||||||||||
