| Astronomy is the science of everything beyond the earth, from our upper atmosphere out through the solar system to the stars and galaxies beyond, reaching all the way back to the very beginnings of space and time. Astronomy is the oldest science with a History that goes back more than two thousand years. Its development has encouraged advances in Maths, Engineering and Computers. Until recently, all astronomical observations were carried out from the surface of the earth, but over the last few decades telescopes (and humans) have started to operate in earth orbit and beyond. | ||||||||||||||
