The History of literature goes back to before the rise of Ancient Greece and Rome, with Latin remaining in widespread use ecclesiastically until the 1600s. It was around this time that William Shakespeare made such a major contribution to the development of the English language. With the widespread use of Computers, literature can now be read online or converted to other forms of Media, such as audiobooks.
